I finally got encounters with strangers to look the way I’ve always wanted it to! It looks a bit like my portfolio now so there’s consistency at least. I spent hours last night playing with the code and learning more CSS stuff. I really, really love how it looks now. I’ve updated my blogroll with more of my favorites. If you have a blog and would like to exchange links, let me know!

I fixed up my portfolio and made it look neater. Although what I really need to do is reorganize the content and take better pictures. I haven’t been able to walk out and take new ones lately, but I’m going to make that my goal this week. I put my video back up so if you have nothing better to do, check it out. I am no longer ashamed of my manly voice.

encounters with strangers: NEW LOOK!

I seriously spent all day fixing my WordPress theme because a) I had nothing better to do and b) I just felt like it. Anyway, there are three new blog entries up and they were posted merely for the sake of testing out a few CSS-related things. It took me so long to get it exactly the way I wanted because the last time I touched a code was years ago. Good news is I don’t hate CSS as much as I used to anymore. Still drives me crazy though.

The day I met my father. /lame

I got these Star Wars Lego key chains last week. They’re perfect for people (like me) who are outwardly proud of their geekery. Do you love Star Wars, too? I bet you like it, at least. It’s hard not to.

I admit that most of the lines in the movies, especially the supposed romantic ones between Anakin and Padme, are, for lack of a better word, corny. But you have to take them for what they are. George Lucas may not be the best screenwriter in the world, but he’s got an amazingly vast imagination. We owe to him the existence of many celebrated heroes and villains—Darth Vader, Master Yoda, the ugly creep that is Palpatine et al.

Who could forget the mind fuck that was THX 1138? That will forever be my go-to film for when I’m feeling all “I hate the world”.

I also owe to him the early beginnings of my passion for film making and screenwriting. The Star Wars films, while not necessarily perfect, provide exactly what fans go to the movie house for—entertainment, temporary withdrawal from the real world, and a two hour long trip to a galaxy far, far away—and more.

Or, maybe I’m just way over my head.

My final project for my screenwriting class back in college was a science fiction love story inspired by George Lucas’ college project, “THX 1138”. Someday, I’m going to shoot it.

Okay, this is some serious geekery, but I got these for my iPhone last night. I got so incredibly addicted to Plants vs. Zombies last year that it took up much of the time that was supposedly meant for writing my thesis. But anyway, I also subscribed to McSweeney’s Small Chair because I can’t afford to subscribe to the actual thing (I checked the shipping and it’s… well, it’s really expensive). So, we all have to make-do with what we can, right?

Oh, and not that it should surprise you, but I did finish the 3k run this morning and looked like an idiot after a college friend of mine approached me. He had just finished the 10k and we weren’t that far apart, okay? Haha. That says A LOT.

@Lisa: It’s like a micro-mini version of McSweeney’s Quarterly Concern. You get a story or two every week, kind of like samplers from their previous issues. The quarterly itself is available in the country, but not all of the issues. :|
