I think I know better than to complain about a book that a lot of people have warned me about. I haven’t finished all of the stories, but I have formed an opinion about it.

Miss Contraire is back!

Funny how new facts pop up and make you doubt that there’s any goodness in life. Everyone pretends to be normal and be your friend, but underneath, everyone is living some other life you don’t know about, and if only we had a camera on us at all times, we could go and watch each other’s tapes and find out what each of us was really like. But then you’d have to watch girls go poo and boys trying to go down on themselves.
James Franco, Halloween (from Palo Alto)
I think it’s about time I talked about books again and maybe revive Miss Contraire even though my book reviews are crap. It’s been a looong time, yes? Anyway, I am choosing between these three titles (which I only got today):
Palo Alto by James Franco - I’ve read the reviews months ago when I was still deciding whether to order it online or not. I know many have said this collection of short stories is mediocre (or, well, pretty bad), but I choose to judge for myself. That, and also I love the guy way too much that I choose to ignore what others say.
Fortress of Solitude by Jonathan Lethem - This is one title I have been looking for in many, many months. Maybe a year! I remember Casey writing about how much he loved this and since then, I would check every bookstore I went to for it. Today, I wasn’t looking for any particular title at all and these three wonderful books found me instead!
Blankets by Craig Thompson - FINALLY. I would’ve gotten this ages ago as well if it wasn’t always out of stock. I feel like I’m only “pretending” to be deciding when I know I’ll end up reading this first anyway. I’ve only read Craig Thompson’s “Carnet De Voyage” which I loved so this is really exciting for me. (Can you imagine how boring my life is at the moment? Haha.)
So, that is it. Enough rambling. What are you reading/watching/doing? :)

I am blown away by James Franco’s portrayal of yet another homosexual. He’s just endlessly awesome, isn’t he?

James: Well there are some people that hear about this movie [127 Hours] and they’re a little scared to see it, and I was wondering if you could tell everybody what you thought of those people.Grandma Franco: I THINK THEY’RE A BUNCH OF PUSSIES!
