Or have you had to in the past? What are your “survival” tips for those who aren’t brave enough to do it yet?

It was just super depressing, you know? They went through so much for something only to realize in the end that they didn’t want it anymore. Whywhywhy?!
It was heartbreaking and it gave me incredibly heavy boots. I’m still a bit haunted by that shower scene in the end.
It’s based on the director’s life though with his first wife. They’re both stupid. They could’ve had a happy marriage if it weren’t for that stupid slip in the beginning.
“Birthday” by Quietdrive, “Happy Birthday” by Ryan Adams, “Unhappy Birthday” by The Smiths (this one’s just funny), “Birthday” by The Bird and the Bee, “Birthday Pony” by Fugazi, and last but NOT least… “Happy Birthday” by Sufjan Stevens. :)
EDIT: As pointed out by Marvin, I forgot to add the best one of all, “Birthday Sex” by Jeremih HAHA
Sometimes, songs that are related to the place I’m going to like “Los Angeles, I’m Yours” by The Decemberists back in 2008 (it was my first visit). Sometimes, songs that help me get to sleep. It’s hard to list down just ten songs since it usually depends on my mood really.
I’ve made three travel mixes here: 1. I Won’t Be Found, 2. Departures, 3. All The Places We’ll Go To. Enjoy!
Oh, Ali, I wish. Keyword is seem. Tumblr makes it easy to highlight a (very small) percentage of who you are. There are hundreds of things I wish I could do, but can’t. Be this and that, etc etc… So many things!
(Side note: You living in Scotland makes me jealous.)
I did a couple of months ago. :)
(Re: “Love Song” by Vicious the Boat) P.S. Thanks, guys. Hihihi
I have nothing against e-Books. I had one before (an iPad with the Amazon Kindle app) and enjoyed its novelty for a few weeks ‘til I eventually missed the feeling and smell of real books. It’s good to carry around with you because it’s much lighter than putting books in your bag. However, it’s also incredibly distracting knowing that there are other things you can do with it. Um, hello, Angry Birds?! Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think most e-Readers now can surf the internet as well. That may be a good thing to some, but I’m already low on attention span as it is.
I say it highly depends on you and your lifestyle. If you’re the type that’s on-the-go and can find many uses for it, then an e-Reader might be good for you. I tried it and it didn’t work out for me. :)
I’m on Twitter as sufjansaves too. Pretty cheesy, right? Anyway, I’m glad you decided to try his music out! I hope you started with his earlier material since his latest album, Age of Adz, is a whole new sound compared to his banjo-heavy/folk days. Not saying it’s bad. It’s just really, really different is all. (Fave songs for comparison - Earlier songs: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 this song has TONS of versions, but this is my personal favorite; Age of Adz: 1, 2, 3). He’s put out a lot of records, but my favorite is still the Michigan album because the first few songs I listened to and fell in love with are in that album.
Some of my favorite things to talk about: mafia films, science fiction, Sufjan’s adorable gap tooth, and music!
Just a note: the music I listen to is generally the sombre/quiet/sleepy kind (save for a couple others, mostly Captured Tracks artists) so this list will most likely be populated with sad to not so sad songs. Some of these are artists I haven’t posted about much in the past few months.
Enjoy! :)
I’m mostly inspired by movies, menswear bloggers (my favorites are: 1, 2, 3, 4), and music. I read fashion blogs too, but I find it hard to relate to most of them since I don’t care much for high heels and make-up. I wear heels sometimes, but only on special occasions that call for it.
Hmm… I don’t really know what to call my style, just that I know what I do and don’t like. Here are a few favorites from which I draw inspiration - Patricia from Breathless, English school boys, and Annie Hall (this is my favorite outfit of hers):

Hey, it’s been a while since I got NYFA-related questions! Anyway, you don’t have to be a U.S. citizen to go there. You just need to apply to the school first, send the requirements, then when everything’s good, NYFA will send you the necessary documents you need to present for your student visa application. It’s a pretty painless process and I’m sure you won’t have much trouble with it. Happy new year to you too and good luck!
Thank you, anon! I use Photoshop actually. For the concert photos (I’m assuming you’re referring to the ones from the Beach Fossils show), they came out that way because of The Echoplex’s incredible lighting. It’s the best venue I’ve ever shot in so far. All I did in the end was sharpen them up and adjust the contrast or convert to B&W. :)
